Conformance Calibration Standard Test Card for ISO/IEC Data Matrix and GS1 DataMatrix Symbol Verifiers (AI-CCS-DM-G24)

Under the most recent bar code symbol print quality test specifications – Two-dimensional (2D) symbols, print growth (PG) has become a graded parameter. This precision 2D barcode Conformance Calibration Standard Test Card has been modified to include two new symbols, one each for positive Print Growth and negative Print Growth. These are now symbols #5 and #6. The original symbols #5 and #6 have been moved to the #9 and #12 positions respectively.

The symbols on this card are sized from 0.5mm to 0.2mm so that all the symbol sizes specified in ISO/IEC 15426-2 Annex A.3.1 can be tested. Symbols 1-4 are GS1 DataMatrix symbols, while symbols 5-12 are ISO/IEC Data Matrix symbols consistent with the ISO/IEC 16022:2024 standard. The card also includes four calibrated reflectance patches.

The test card is manufactured, serialized, and individually calibrated using a newly developed, state-of-the-art, high-resolution camera-based “Judge” system, meeting the requirements of ISO/IEC 15426-2 for bar code verifier conformance specifications and the provisioning of primary reference test symbols.

The AI-CCS-DM-G24 test card is measured and certified per ISO/IEC 15415:2024 and ISO/IEC 15426-2:2023 standards. The test card contains twelve unique ISO/IEC Data Matrix symbols consistent with the ISO/IEC 16022:2024 standard.

The main calibration parameter results of each symbol are recorded on the face of the test card, with more detailed information for each symbol’s grading provided on the accompanying Calibration Certificate and Data report. Calibration is performed in Applied Image’s ISO 17025:2017 Accredited laboratory and provides a chain of traceability to NIST or another National Metrology Institute.
