The application of the new APPLIED IMAGE Conformance Calibration Standard *Enhanced* Test Card for ITF-14 Symbol Verifiers is for checking the calibration of verifiers equipment or training of verifier users using ITF-14 bar codes.
ITF-14 (Interleaved Two of Five) is a continuous two-width barcode symbology to encode a Global Trade Item Number. ITF-14 symbols are generally used on packaging levels of a product, such as case boxes, master cartons or pallets, while the products inside are labeled with UPC or EAN bar codes. The ITF-14 will always encode 14 digits.ITF encodes pairs of digits; the first digit is encoded in the five bars (or black lines), while the second digit is encoded in the five spaces (or white lines) interleaved with them. Two out of every five bars or spaces are wide (hence exactly 2 of 5).
The CCS *Enhanced* Test Card for ITF-14 Symbol Verifiers contains four precision ITF-14 symbols, Interleaved 2-of-5 Master Grade Pass/Fail/Quiet Zone, Defect, Low Decodability and Contrast bar codes, which have been certified using our state-of-the-art Laser Interferometer Scanner (the JUDGE). Complete calibration results of each symbol are supplied and a summary of the main parameters are written on the card below each symbol. The Certified Test Cards are fully traceable to all applicable bar code standards including ANSI X3.182, ISO-15416 and GS1 requirements, with further traceability to NIST with a statement of estimated uncertainty documented on the supplementary Calibration Certificate and Report documents.
The test card is considered a "Primary Reference" designed for verifiers using a 20mil aperture with light characteristics for laser scanners, wand devices and imaging cameras.
Unless otherwise specified, this card is calibrated with a 500 micron (0.020") aperture.
